Since the publication of Jane Eyre, it has been paid much attention both at home and abroad. And its eternal charm has attracted numerous adapters to compile it and show it on screen. This paper compares the novel Jane Eyre and the movie Jane Eyre for its high position in the literature and art history firstly, and secondly for the adaptability of the novel such as the intricate plot, mythical scene, beautiful picture, and characters with unique personality and so on. In addition, the readers of the novel and the audience of the movie have the similar social and cultural background and the adapted movies are paid much more attention by people. For all these factors the novel and the movie are worth deep researching and comparing.This paper firstly analyzes the different aesthetic representation and aesthetical sense based on the two different media. Secondly, the paper analyzes the basis of adaptability and the inner conscious and cultural factors. The adaptability of the novel is not only about its own aesthetical and social values, but also about the different aesthetical tastes and social values they confer. The research of the paper is based on the movie Jane Eyre of American version (1944). Through close reading of the movie and the novel, this paper compares the similarities and differences, the fidelity and creation aspects, and the multiple factors that influence their creation so as to probe into the intricate and beautiful art charm.Through comparison, this paper points out that the movie Jane Eyre which is adapted from the novel Jane Eyre is a combination of the audiences' expectation, the common movie narration practice, the careful processing and economic plan of the movie company. They are like the two poles of the magnet that attract and also negate each other.
