With the development and prevalence of Internet throughout the world, networks based distant education has gradually become a very important research area, and interactive answering is an indispensable component of networks based learning. In distant education, how to answer questions is a problem worth unusually attention because tutors and students can not communicate face to face in one locale as in traditional education case. Networks based Elementary Chinese Education has many unique characteristics such as low-level knowledge of Chinese, which corresponding solution must take into account.Firstly we discuss the position of answering in distant education- a sound answering system is a mandatory factor to make a successful distant education. Secondly we briefly introduce distant education and answering system.In Chapter 3, we bring up the design of system. The system consists of teacher module and student module. In the corresponding module, teachers and students can research and query, e.g., view all the questions, view questions by the chapter or by keywords, etc. Students can raise their questions, and teachers are responsible to answer, and manage the answering database as well.In Chapter 4, 17 question templates are developed according to the characteristics of elementary phase of network based Chinese Education. The templates can be put into 4 different categories: pronunciation/Chinese characters, vocabulary/grammar, communications and others. Functions of each template are described, and example questions are given. These templates are summarized with reference to professionals' teaching experiences and students' frequently asked questions. They are aimed to facilitate students with relatively low level Chinese knowledge to use this answering system more effectively and more conveniently. When students have special requirements that can not be met by the templates, they can raise the questions. And teachers will add or modify the question templates based on these questions to continuously improve the answering system. Also, the question templates provide interprets of English, Japanese and Korean language, which can further satisfy the questioning and answering needs of elementary phase students, help them understand the templates, query into interested questions.Chapter 5 is about the realization of the answering system. We build the database which includes 5 tables named user, template, question, answer and lesson to store answering related data. To show the question templates in different languages within one webpage, we add related titles in the tables. After that, webpages are developed using ASP programming. Basing on the .asp files and the database realized the answering system.Conclusions are made in Chapter 6, telling that the main point of the answering system is to create 17 question templates and to show them in different languages within one webpage, which is an useful research in the answering system of networks based Chinese teaching. Forecast for further answering system is given at the end.
