This paper attempts to investigate the forming stage in the history of "New Literature' of korea and china. Especially, this paper was derived from my wish to overcome the heterogeneous controversy between the two countries. Di the abrupt transition process from their old friendly relationship to their alienated one the two countries became aloof from each other not settling their emotions toward each other. Thus, I sincerely hope that this paper will help to understand the sentiments of the modem history of Korea and China. Also, this paper aims at analyzing the subjects of the literary works where the ideas of the times are well represented, thereby helping to understand why such subjects were selected. In the initial stage of the history of 'New Literature' of the two countries, thinkers or politicians, rather than pure literary men produced many writings and in that stage called Blooming Period, the mixture of the ideas and transitional phenomena confusion are shown, and with respect to the subjects of the writers negative ideas rather than affirmative ones were dominant. Thus, in this stage, the most dominant idea was that of 'anti'. In other words, 'anti-feudalism' and 'anti-imperialism' are such examples. The modernity of the two countries were accomplished by the outer will rather than by their own free will. Also, China has changed from a culture producer to a culture receiver. While Korea had received only Chinese culture, but in the past began to receive western culture via Japan. In this change emerged anti-feudalism and anti-imperialism. Although these ideas appear in the same era and in the same mannerin these two counties, it is shown that the meanings underlying them are completely different. In China, 'anti' in 'anti-feudalism' is associated not with renewing the old-fashioned but with negating the past. As the old idea that China is the central country began to crumble down, Chinese people were able to feel that their own past appear intolerable. Thus, the idea of wanting to negate and deny the past is embedded in the writings of Lu Xun. In Korea, however, the idea of such centrality does not exit, but the idea of trying to reform and renew the past was dominant. Numerous literary works written in the era of the 'new-literature' was written in such ideal background, and finally, China came to get rid of the old-fashioned feudalism and construct the new China by receiving the new ideas. Korea, however, came to reform the previous ideas and build the modern Korea. In this paper, I attempted to analyze the literary works written in the process like this and help to understand the modern literature of Korea and China.
