Research On Tai Ping Guang Ji Chao

The compilation of classical Chinese novel’s anthology is one of the performance of the flourish in classical Chinese novels of late Ming Dynasty.Simultaneously,this anthology promotes the development of classical Chinese novels in the late Ming Dynasty and early Qing Dynasty.Tai Ping Guang Ji,known as the origin of novels,was an important materials of novel creation at that time.Feng Menglong directly originated from Tai Ping Guang Ji and compiled the Tai Ping Guang Ji Chao by simplicity,replacement and combination.After being processed and sorted by Feng Menglong,Tai Ping Guang Ji Chao is better than Tai Ping Guang Ji both in contents classification and story arrangement.Thus,this book reflects Feng’s great skill and idea in codification.This dissertation mainly researches on Tai Ping Guang Ji Chao with eight chapters.After defining the nature of Tai Ping Guang Ji Chao and summarizing its publishing and spreading situation,Chapter 1 not only explores the intrinsic and extrinsic reasons why Feng Menglong compiled the book,but also generalizes and classifies the approaches of compilation.Focusing on the relationship between Tai Ping Guang Ji Chao and Tai Ping Guang Ji,Chapter 2 analyzes the connection between the two,and investigates the original edition of Tai Ping Guang Ji Chao in order to compare the amounts of contents and categories and try to show the value of Tai Ping Guang Ji Chao.Chapter 3 and 4 discuss respectively the various methods to compiling categories and contents;utilize the math formulas and quantity statistics to make qualitative and quantitative on diverse combining ways;summarize the compiling features.Chapter 5 analyzes that Feng Menglong payed great attention to the consistency of category,title and content from three points on moving category,renaming title and reorganizing content.Chapter 6,from the angles of compiler,novelist,literati and reader,analyzes Feng’s comments.Chapter 7 explores Feng’s editing criteria,codification principles and artistic pursuits by focusing on the contents to be removed and selected.Chapter 8 discusses in what ways Tai Ping Guang Ji Chao echos the social culture trend in Ming Dynasty and reflects Feng’s literary thoughts,and try to reveal its time significance and literary value.
