The conception of "Negation" has a wide range. "Negation" in this paper falls into the scope of linguistics. Every langua -,ge has its positive and negative forms. In Grammar,the sentences which contain negative words are called negative sentences.English and Korean belong to different types of langua ges. They are separately included in the inflected language and agglutinative langua ge. Negative structures in English and in Korean are remarkably different,which bring some difficulties to the Korean English learners,"not" ,are the most common negative words in English and Korean . In the first step,the paper introduced and contrasted the negative forms in English and Korean,then based on this,the contrastive study of negative sentences in English and Korean are carried out through static description.. From the angle of syntactic structure,there are considerable differences of negative sentences in English and Korean. However,from the angle of semantics,the scope of negation in both languages share much common features. The aim of this paper is to dig out similarities,differences and corresponding rules that can be seen in the negative sentences in English and Korean,so as to provide some references to English teaching and English-Korean Korean-English translation.The process of this paper goes on as follows. The first section is the introduction which shows significance,aim,scope,and method etc.;The second section carried out the contrastive analysis of negative forms from the level of words and sentences;The third section deals with the contrastive study of syntactic structures of negation in both languages;The fourth section is the contrastive study of negative sentences which are examined semantically. This part includes the restrictive futtion of negative words to the following verbs,the semantic features of negative words,and the scope of negation. The fifth section is the result of the study.
