Survey On The Afloat Residents' Dialect In Macao

This thesis is a survey on the phonetics and expressions of the dialect of the Afloat Residents in Macao. The Afloat Residents refer to the fishermen that stay permanently on the boats and make their living by fishing along the coast of Macao. This text undergoes a systematic research on the dialect of the Afloat Residents in Macao with detailed description and analysis on the part of its phonetic and expressions, trying to find out the rhythm on its phonetic as well as the characteristics on its expressions. Simultaneously making a comparison on the phonetic and expressions between this dialect with Cantonese spoken in Macao and Mandarin, in order to find out their respective differences and similarities.Through the survey on the language of the Afloat Residents in Macao, this essay tries to fill up the gap in the study of the phonetic and expressions on this group of people, and provides also to this language some consulting information in order to conserve this vanishing language.This thesis consists of three chapters:The first chapter : Introduction The second chapter: Phonetics The third chapter : Expressions...
