Based on a detailed study of a famous contemporary Chinese female writer Dingling, the author completed her thesis On the Study of the Psychological State of Dingling and Her Literature Fate.Starting from the point of literary and artistic psychology, this thesis analyzed Dingling-the contradictory figure-from many different angles. It analyzes the type of psychological state she had, changes taken and development of this state at different times, and the effect this had on her literary creation, expecting to further explore the law of development in literature itself. This paper consists of five chapters which discusses the following aspects respectively.1. To have the hazy notions pursuing individual liberation at early stages; to be rebuffed by social transformation; to publish her masterpiece "Diaries of Lady Shafei".2. To cry out bitterly after experiencing being arrested, imprisoned and misunderstood in 1930s as a result of joining "Leftist Union".3. To discuss the passion of the heroine and her tenacious misery in Yanan during the Revolutionary War Time.4. To talk about her 20 years' hard time from 1957 to 1984.5. To recall the painful experiences after regaining a new life. The psychological state of Dingling is related not only to the society but also toher private life and physio-psychological mechanism. Theoretically supported by Dingling's psychological state at different historical periods and based on her works at different times, the author of this paper chooses the leading psychological state as the most representative to analyze. While demonstrating us her rich life experiences, it also shows us her leading state of mind and character.Literary works is a presentation of the writer's private life. It is restricted by certain state of mind whether it be emotional tendency, image selection, language style and means of art. Both Dingling's leading state of mind and the fate of her literature, even her name and personality have become a very complex phenomenon in literature which is a historical symbol rich in connotation and is a tough proposition for critics.
