Lao She’s thought of mass literary creation has the cultural vision of popularity,dialogue and people.Based on the construction of modern nation-states and the aesthetics of modern mass groups,Lao She’s ideas of literary popularization and creation fuse Western literary thought and local Chinese experience,providing the transformation path of the public from living life to written forms such as literary content,literary image and literary form,and representing Lao She’s coordination of literary aesthetic value and social value in the cultural context of popular discourse strongly intervening in the literary field and becoming increasingly prominent.Taking the social context,literary and art policy and cultural trend from the early thirties to the mid-to-late sixties of the twentieth century as the research background,the paper takes Lao She’s interpretation of popular literary creation in this period as the research object,supplemented by the investigation of Lao She’s survival experience and cultural background,the case analysis of Lao She’s creative practice and the horizontal and vertical theoretical comparison,and objectively analyzes the ideological connotation and significance of Lao She’s construction of the content,image and form of popular literature.In the creation of literary content,Lao She advocated that writers should choose literary themes that are familiar to and loved by the public in the public position,the context of the times and social practice.At the same time,Lao She proposed that popular literature should not only choose grand themes such as praising the times,but also explore the spiritual outlook of ordinary people in daily life,so as to broaden the categories of popular literary themes.In terms of how to transform the "masses" in the concept of reality into the "mass image" in the literary field,Lao She starts from the essence,creative purpose,audience subject and creative significance of popular literature,regards the public as the core and main source of literary image creation,advocates writers to fully understand the living conditions of the public from macro and micro perspectives,and strives to create both the commonality of the times and the subjective personality;A mass "typical" with both social value and aesthetic value.In the choice of literary form,Lao She cuts from the stylistic and linguistic layers to the form of popular literature from the perspective of modern intellectuals.At the stylistic level,Lao She proposed to inherit folk forms,transform old forms and create new forms with the idea of "national standard",and build a "national form" that conforms to the development of popular literature;At the language level,Lao She advocates selecting words from the public’s daily language,and forming sentences in oral syntax,showing the popular beauty of language in concise language expression,and at the same time,he also proposes to form the musical beauty of language from the combination of phonetics,intonation,and long and short sentences.Lao She’s idea of popular literary creation is a theory derived from his two-way interaction with modern Chinese social changes under his multiple identities as theorists,writers,and cultural officials.In the folk expression of popular literary content,the shaping of image life,and the localization of forms,Lao She shows the tendency of intellectuals’ aesthetics to move closer to the public’s aesthetics,the identification tendency of intellectual identity to mass group identity,and the tendency of individual writing to group writing.These tendencies are not only the "conscious" and "comfortable" reconciliation between literature and politics between Lao She,but also the choices of intellectuals represented by Lao She in literature and the times,individuals and the public,emotional aesthetics and ideology.Lao She’s theoretical exploration in the creation of popular literature is a result that cannot be ignored in the history of the evolution of mass literature in the 20 th century and the history of the construction of literary theory with Chinese characteristics.
