This dissertation is devoted to a systematic study of Advertising English. The first part of this dissertation aims at offering readers an overall view of Advertising English, commonly considered the Lingua Franca of the world, by describing and analyzing such aspects as what is advertising English, the classification, function of advertising English, and its unique linguistic characteristics. By means of semantic and literary style analysis, the second part of this dissertation analyzes the headline, slogan and body. It sums up many valuable suggestions and achievements made by scholars in this field and put forward theories on the undecided issues, especially on the style of Advertising English and the reading of Advertising.
