A Study Of The Fables In "Zhuangzi

In the history of Chinese literature, the dynasty before Qin was the heyday of fable writing. And there were more literary talented fables in Zhuangzi than in any other works at that time -nine of ten were fables in Zhuangzi. However,due to different kinds of reasons, the development of fable writing declined gradually from Han Dynasty, so the fables written by Zhuangzi become especially valuable. Studying fables written in the dynasty before Qin will enable us to understand the philosophers'rich and profound thoughts in the dynasty before Qin. Fables in Zhuangziare regarded as the essence and peak of all fables written in the dynasty before Qin. The secret of philosophic theory and the rich literary talence in Zhuangzi's fables have always been praised by people. Countless people have been trying to explain or expound Zhuangzi since its publication. The study on fables in Zhuangzi has caused great attention in academic circles. There are many original views in the related academy's successes. However, as the overall study is concerned, scholars only explore the figure of speech in the fables in Zhuangzi, but seldom explore the philosophic theory of them; or they only explore the literature function of the fables in Zhuangzi, but seldom explore the literature value of them. In pursuit of the complete and systematic study on fables in Zhuangzi, this article further develops the theory based on the academic study carried out by predecessors and this is the reason why I write " My Exposition on Fables in Zhuangzi".The philosophic theory of fables in Zhuangzi contains with poetic flavor and vice versa. Taking the development of fables in the dynasty before Qin as the background, this article deeply explores the profound and latent philosophic theory as well as the special poetic flavor and literary talence of the fables in Zhuangzi through its contents and literary talence. In the chapter of "The Philosophic Theory of The Fables in Zhuangzi", I mainly expound the moral contents, philosophy of life and political thoughts implied in the fables in Zhuangzi. Fables in Zhuangzi indicate the important proposition of Zhuangzi's philosophy: roots of the universe -Dao, expected to understand Dao in extreme state; and they indicate Zhuangzi's philosophy: the state of life, his wisdom of dealing with the world and his concept of life and death; they also reveal Zhuangzi's philosophy: his proposal and political thoughts on ruling the nation. In the chapter of "The Poetic flavor of The Fabales in Zhuangzi", I first explore the literature feature of the fables in Zhuangzi, then expound the specific technique of expression, such as language, emotion, imagination, image as well as figure of speech, exaggeration, personification, etc. And so is Section 3: To demonstrate Zhuangzi's wisdom of containing nature and logic in the fables and to reveal the nationality feature implied in the fables so as to lay stress on Zhuangzi's brilliant achievements in the Chinese literature history.
