The Management And Exploitation Of Hainan Island In The Ming Dynasty

Hainan Island is one of the largest islands in the South China Sea. It is located in a communicate center place of china to south Asia countries and the Occidents, and it is also one of the strategic points of Chinese frontier defense. The nation's economic policies and laws during the past dynasties are different. On the exploitation and management of Hainan Island, during the different history stage, the central authorities of imperial court had their own specific characteristic on the policies and laws. It is Ming dynasty that had the most vigorous development and management of Hainan among the long history river, and it was also had a glorious achievement. Here, the development and government of Hainan in Ming dynasty were thoroughly studied, the relationship among politics and economy and culture of Ming dynasty in Hainan had been explored. In view of the special geography location of Hainan and the complicated relationship among nations, not only by use of the study procedure of history, but also the positive research factors of the related subjects such as cultural geography, history geography, anthropology, sociology and ethnology have been applied to this study, which gave a comprehensive and systemic study on the development and governance of Ming dynasty in Hainan. Through the study of relative subjects, the regular pattern of the development of Hainan politics, economics and culture during the history were analysized. The experience and lessons were summarized through these researches of history and development rules. Besides, with the experience and lessons of history development, the politics, economics and cultural strategic policies which were suitable for Hainan can be defined, which is helpful to the politic, cultural and economic developments nowadays, and also is helpful to the future continuous development of Hainan.
