A Research On Yang Shen's Danqianzhulu

Yang Shen (杨慎), borned in 1488 and died in 1559. was a known scholar for his great deal of works and erudition. Yang Shen was 16 years younger than Wang Yangming (王阳明) and against Wang and his theory. Studying Yang Shen can improve our knowledge of Ming Dynasty's scholarship.We call a series of Yang Shen's books Danqianzhulu (丹铅诸录), which includes Danqianyulu (丹铅续录), Danqianxulu (丹铅赘录) , Danqianzhuilu(丹铅别录) Danqianbielu (丹铅闰录), Danqianrunlu (丹铅摘录), Danqianzhailu(丹铅附录), Danqianfulu (丹铅总录), Danqianzonglu (丹铅要录), Danqianyaolu(丹铅辑录), Danqianjilu (丹铅杂录), Danqianzalu (丹铅诸录). Some of them have been lost and some have still been existed. What relation between them and what relation between them and other Yang Shen's books are what we probe into in the first chapter of the thesis.What Danqianzhulu discussed upon is very broad. Yang Shen took more notes on Confucian classics than history, took more notes on linguistics. He dared to criticize Confucians of Song Dynasty, brought forward new explanation of classics.He liked history books with good literal style, emphasized that history books should be written in the way the history had happened. In his opinion, the history books should be finished by one single man not by the state. He criticized the historical people in his way.Because of Yang Shen, many books of Zi radical came to people, which broaden people's eyes.On one hand, Yang Shen chosed poem word from former poems, on the other hand, he argued against those who took all the ancient poems as good. He didn'tthink poetry of historic significance is good and he like Li Bai (李白) more than Du Fu (杜甫).Many people such as Chen Yaowen (陈耀文), Wang Shizhen (王世贞), Hu Yinglin (胡应鳞) wrote books to criticize Yang Shen and his books, and Chen, Wang, Hu criticized each other, which people called Zhengyang (Criticize Yang), Zhengzhengyang (Criticize Criticizing Yang). This incident had made great progress to the Chinese scholarship.
