This paper mainly focuses on the spread of music and dance of the western regions in the central plains from the Han dynasty to the Tang dynasty. In terms of research methods, this paper, by using the combined methods of music history and spreading, analyses and studies how music and dance of the western regions spread to the central plains.The whole text falls into three chapters.Chapter One. The gradual spread of music & dance of the western regions during the Han period. This part introduces the spread of music & dance of the western regions in the central plains in the Western Han period (including Zhangqian's going to the western regions, discussion on the spread of "mohedoule", the records of music & dance of the western regions in Shanglinfu and its spread in the early Han in Yutianyue), the spread of music & dance in the central plains in the eastern Han period (including its spread in the courts and its spread among the folks) and the relationship between the spread of music & dance of the western regions and the organizing form of court division music in the Han courts, thus giving an analysis and research of them.Chaper Two. The spread of music & dance of the western regions in the central plains during the Wei, Jin, Northern and Southern dynasties. During this periods, the enormous spread of music & dance of the western regions can be periodically divided into three periods: the period between the end of the western Jin and the establishment of the Westhern Wei, the period between the establishment of the Northern Wei and the fall of the Northern Wei and the period between the fall of the Westhern Wei and the establishment of Sui. In this section, the concepts of "the first wave", "the second wave" and "the third wave" are used to denote the different characteristics of music & dance of the western regions. On the whole, it reveals the features of multi-wave spread. In addition, it also analyses and studies its spread in the eastern Jin, Southern dynasties and the relationship between its spread and the organizing form of court division music.Chapter Three. The spread of music & dance of the western regions during the Sui and Tang periods. It mainly analyses and studies its spread in the central plains, the relationship between its spread and the organizing form of court division music andother relevant problems.This paper gives a complete analysis of the spreading process, the spreading method and the cultural shock of music & dance of the western regions in the Han and Tang dynasties. In this process, it analyses and studies the spreading methods in different periods, the historic causes of influencing its spread and subsequent influences after its spread, the spreading features and regulations and the structures and influences of music & dance of the western regions and the organizing form of court division music. As to the main research topic of this paper and its subsequent academical achievements, the "conclusion" section gives a detailed account.
