Kawabata Yasunari is an outstanding guidon of intermediate novel of Japan in the postwar period. His intermediate novels are excellent and characteristic works , such as Dancer , The Story in the Town of Riverside , The Sound of the Mountain, Tokyoite , Be Women , Beauty and Sadness, etc . It's regrettable that research workers seldom criticized these works before . From the social and female research angles and by using the comparative methods , the thesis tries to make a systematic exposition and exploration for these works from three parts . Part â…  may be summarized as follows: the development of Japanese intermediate novel in the postwar period , the criterion of classify of Kawabata Yasunari's intermediate novels and the things account for the occurrence of the characteristics of these novels . Parts â…¡ reveals these novels's close attention to the real life from three aspects : the reappearance of the postwar's scar , the criticism of the American occupation army's policy and the worry of the traditional ideas' loss . Part â…¢ excavates the female consciousness lying hidden in a group of women and the decline of modern patriarchal culture in Kawabata Yasunari's intermediate novels from several aspects . Then it probes the inner relations between this female consciousness and Kawabata Yasunari's individule and Japanese collective experience...
