Lin Yutang, as a unique writer in the history of exchanging of Chinese and Western culture, made great effort in Chinese and Western culture, and was never remitting . On the problem of how to treat Chinese and Western culture, he underwent three stages: First, he did his utmost to encourage Westernculture──all towards West; Then, he looked closely at traditional cultureagain──complementarity of Confucian and Taoism; Finally, standing on the topof the world culture, he formed a theory──mixing of Chinese and Westernculture. The starting point of his cultural view was not culture but life, so his novel " Moment in Peking" displayed his philosophic thoughts and his soul. In the novel, he praised the life philosophy of the mixing of Confucian and Taoism and the mixing of Chinese and Western culture. This thought was vividly embodied by the leading role Mulan in the novel. It was the result of his thinking about the fate of human culture in the conflict of the value between Chinese and Western culture, from the angle of the mixing of Chinese and Western culture. However, because of the contradiction in his personality and thoughts, Lin Yutang's culture view can't completely avoid being limited.
