Repetition is an important grammatical means and AABB form is one of the most basic forms of repetition. It involves a wide scope of fields, and it is used frequently. This is not only shown in morphology, but also in syntax, and its expression forms are complex, AABB forms can apply not only to adjectives but also some verbs, nouns, and even some other parts of speech. Moreover, under certain circumstances, only through repetition forms can nouns, verbs, numerals, measure words, pronouns as well as adverbs, to a certain extent, act as certain syntactic constituents. Due to the materials chosen, the length of the article and my limitations of knowledge, my article will only approach AABB repetition forms in syntactic field.Word building and configuration both are important contents of the syntax. AABB repetition forms in syntax, too, touch upon these two aspects.Herein, in order to be convenient for the readers, AABB forms in the sense of word building is simplified as AABB1, and AABB forms in the sense of configuration is simplified as AABB2.(1) In the sense of word building, by starting from analyzing the interior morphemic meaning and then conducting quantitative analysis of AABB forms of different parts of speech, an conclusion is drawn: in the word building sense, AABB1 occupies a majority of AABB forms; other AABB1 forms share similar grammatical functions, and at the same time they keep the characteristics of the morphemic components.(2) In the sense of configuration, my approach emphasizes on the analysis of different classes of repetition words, including the analysis of the structure, the meaning and the syntactic functions of AABB nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, numerals and onomatopoeias. Some insights into certain issues (such as the analysis of the elements of repetition constrained verbs and adjectives, and the comparison in functions between the repetition adjectives and the original non-repetition adjectives) are also given in the hope of offering something fresh.
