The existentialism that emanate from the west mentality and affect the whole conceptive of human being has undoubtedly important influence on China. Due to the existentialism that prevail as a kind of philosophy, it's influence on field of philosophy went without saying. Because of the idealistic and poetic characteristic, the existentialism express it's philosophical theme by form of literature. At the same time, the same theme has also been expressed in the literatus. The affinity between the existentialism and literature make the literary expression contain the philosophical theme. To explain literature essentially means to emphasize philosophy, and philosophical expression can't go without the literary description of man's existent status.The existential theme can be found in the western works easily, it is a argument if there is cultural soil for it in China. The influence of existentialism in China has two phases in the borderline of 1949 Many facts have proved the influence on modernistic literature(before 1949), for example, the critic unscramble the works of neoteric such as Lu xun through the point of existentialism. After 1949, however, there is short of theoretic research in the influence and representation of the contemporary Chinese novel. This paper try to give prominence to the existential theme such as absurdness, loneliness, facticity, death and so on. The theme that interrelated reflect the influence on the contemporary Chinese novel and it's also a cut-in for us to explain the works and grasp the spirit particularity of people of the times. The indigenous existentialism resource should obtain the corresponding recognition and study along with the rising upsurge of existential philosophy of 1990's.
