Based on Poe's literary works, the present paper explores how the unity of the text is unified with that of the personality Connecting the two has long been in practice in the study of Poe, especially by psychoanalysts. Our analyses however, will be carried out on an abstract level, as distinguished from traditional psychoanalytic criticism. For the unity of the text and that of the personality," inter-textual reading" and "self-conception are respectively employed to overcome the limits of the previous criticism The result is the unity of the two on a panoramic and abstract level The unity of the text is unified with that of the personality both functionally and in terms of projection Four textual qualities, eulogy, revenge stories, elegy and resistance to death constitute the framework of the paper, which in itself is original in the study of Poe.
