Why language exists is that the Human needs it to express themselves. Language, thus, is an expressive system in fact. Today, more complicated researches are focused on language, however, all these researches aim at answering a simple question on earth, that is, whether it is possible to express by language or not? This is the essential problem for language .It's a epoch for us to express freely by language. The life has provided us with abundant speech materials. It seems that not the possibility to express but how to express is a problem. Although the essential problem for language is always covered by the phenomenon, it has been existing and affecting the thought of the Human for a long time.Therefore, explanation has become an necessary method since language is to be applied. The Human has begun to think this essential problem for language in the ancient mythologies. It is impossible for the Greece and Chinese people in Xian Qin to avoid this essential problem. Chinese philosophers in Xian Qin posed a way to express themselves by image. Meanwhile, the thoughts of the Greece is more philosophic. The whole western cultural history is winded with the language problem, which results in the modern linguistics of the profound system. However, the western modem linguistics is not existed in China.As a natural being, language can only express natural object. It's significant to put forward the idea of the image. The image is a dialectic one of fictiton and reality, which makes the expression possible. Language is essentially image. The first image of the Human is themselves. Speaking starts with the image of the body. As the thought becomes more meticulous, the image becomes more fictitious. This brings about the language of the modern notion. However, it doesn't means the disappearance but the condensation of the image.As language becomes more abstract, the fictitious world reconstructed by the notions is contrary to the natural world referred by the image, the former is much farer away from the latter. The process of the object expressed by language is, in fact, a process of the object reconstructed by the notion. And so, the real is impossible. The essential reason for the existence of language is that it can really express the nature, thus, the paradox is inevitable. Paradox is the essence of language and will accompanies it forever. Language can be break down into speaking and speech. Speaking is a dynamic process, it can't be probed directly. Speaking strictly, the antinomy is the feature of the speech but not for speaking. The lacking of the materials but not the silence is the predicament of speaking.This dissertation bases itself upon the essential problem for language and develop circling with the relationship between speaking and image, aiming ultimately at putting forward five arguments: 1, the image is a unification of the opposed simulation and specification; 2,the essence for language is image; 3,the original image is the image of human; 4,speech is an paradoxical existence; 5,there is no real opposition between language and image. All of these related arguments contributed to one theme, that is, owing to the introduction of image, language is connected with nature, and then language philosophy can step out of the paradoxical existence.
