From the Song Dynasty to now, these have been a great many of writings on the district geography of Chuanxiasilu in the Song Dynasty. But some of these writings emphasis on one district, some emphasis on one side of the district geography, the others are short of examination of some suspicions. They are limited. The author wants to describe the district geography of Chuanxiasilu in the Song Dynasty comprehensively, basing on examination of documents concerned.As a major area, Chuanxiasilu has the common character of the Song Dynasty's district geography. But it also has some special character. Studying on it, can make us comprehend the district geography of the Song Dynasty more roundly, can help to comprehend the status of economy, traffic and nationality on Chuanxiasilu, can help deeply understand the administrative territory measures taken by the Song government basing on the superstructure, and ulteriorly apprehend the administrative, ethnologic, economic policies of the Song government. From these, it can provide reference to China's "Developing West" strategy and district adjustment.Geographic Information System (GIS) provide the reach of history with the new way, and make the qualitative and quantitative analysis of history more easy, and promote history toward a higher or better stage. But, the application of GIS is inadequate in our country at present. It hasn't related to the one dynasty district geography. I want to try my best to make it more abundant, and supply electronic implement for reach of Sichuan historical geography, through the oneness of GIS.This paper will study the Song Dynasty's Chuanxia district geography roundly, by the political, economic, traffic and geographical ways. In some section, the author will represent the changes of the zone, the districts of Chuanxiasilu, etc, by means of electronic maps.
