From The Emotional To The Intellectual

As a whole the development of the modern Chinese poetry has been mainly divided into two streams, the mainstream and the borderline-stream. This thesis has researched the changing process, rules and causes of the borderline-stream poetry from emotional poetry to intellectual one in poetics concept. By reason of the isomorph'ic that is presented by the characteristics of the works of representative poets and the developing features of the whole borderline-stream poetry , the thesis begins with typical case analysis of the change of Feng Zhi's poetic styles which makes the whole study go with a swing on a higher starting point and a deeper perspective. The thesis not only reviews and hackles the developing process from the emotional poetry to the intellectual one of the borderline-stream poetry, and searches its features and rules, but also seeks the historical source and realistic foundation of the evolution on the comparative background of intellectual factors of Chinese traditional poetics and the Western one. It further summarize the causes and significance of the evolution from the emotional poetry to the intellectual poetry owned by borderline-stream of the modern Chinese poetry which provides valuable experience and enlightenment for the development and flourish of the modern Chinese poetry in new historical condition.The article is divided into 5 parts. The first chapter is foreword. The second one discusses the characteristics and opportunities in the development of Feng zhi's poetic style. The third chapter reviews the process and features of the borderline-stream poetry which develops from the emotional to the intellectual in poetics concept. The fourth chapter searches the common and the difference between Chinese and Western intellectual factors in poetics on the background of their traditional source. The fifth sums up the causes and significance of the modern Chinese poetry from the emotional to the intellectual.
