The Journey to the West is the best novel in the Chinese ancient mythical novels. It is based on the historical fact that monk XuanZhuang went to India for Buddhist scriptures in the Tang dynasty. When the history tale spread among the people, it has become legend with the folk culture. Then the leading character in the latest novel transferred from monk XuanZhuang to the fictitious Monkey King. Many spirits and demons act the important roles in this novel, including some enchantresses. Their imagery group is one part of a particular system in the ancient Chinese literature. Additionally, they appear a different aesthetic sense and aesthetic interest, which come from the individual consciousness of the author.This paper has three parts altogether. Introduction: a brief introduction of the enchantress phenomenon in ancient Chinese literature, and giving the reason of this study. Part two: set out from the influence of the traditional spirit and the author's consciousness, investigate these factors which contribute the imagery of the enchantresses. Part three: draw the conclusion.
