Recently, with the increasing common use of computer and the development of network transmitting technology, an"information revolution" is going on all over the world. Scientific, cultural information is being transmitted and spread in higher speed and larger scale. Besides the material technological elements, how can we Chinese people transmit the newest information to the whole world rapidly? At first, of course, it should be the "creative writing of information", that is, using the world language-English skillfully, writing in terms of standards and regulations. Only in this way, can we transmit the information in highest speed and largest scale.In China, the English syllabi of middle schools and colleges have certain systematic requirements and regulations about the training of English writing ability. However, in the process of teaching, most teachers "teach" English writing as a necessary content or means of taking examinations, but not "train" it as a practical ability of language, this has been leading to the general low level of writing ability of our college students (including English majors and non-majors) and has fallen far behind the tendency of globalization of information transmission.In recent years, many educators and English teachers have made a great deal of research about how to improve the English writing ability of the students, but the analysis and studies are not very complete or systematic. We haven't reached an agreement on the important points, difficult point, problems and strategies of English writing. Therefore, this study is trying to find out the main problems in English writing of college students on the basis of long-time English teaching experience, the common errors in students' writing and the analysis of related data, then trying to work out the main causes which influence the level of English writing ability of the students, and then the author of the essay tries to give some practical and effective strategies to help improve teachers' level of English writing teaching and the training of college students' English writing ability.
