Honesty is the virtue of tradition in China. At the same time to inherit the tradition, must to face some moral coasting phenomena because of the bad influence system is not perfect, the legal system is not sanity and the individual money worship. The voice of calling the honesty is more louder and louder as time go by in modern society. Honesty is changed from one kind of moral exhibition of individual to the certainly qualification of the eligible member of the society. In order to help cultivate the university students to be the excellent equipped persons with ability, and explore the status quo of the honesty of them, and get to know the characters of their psychology and behaviors of honesty to provide gist to education, then it has the most important value to study honesty of university students.Base-on overviews of former research, open-ended questionnaire and deep talking with university and expert, this study forms the theory hypothesis, and work out two part of the honesty test: the honesty questionnaire and the "keeping faith" questionnaire. After tested the reliability and validity, then edit and confirm the closed-questionnaire. Use the closed-questionnaire to test 704 university students in Chongqing, and investigate the status quo of the university students' honesty about the specialty, development and sex. Finally, two suggestions are proposed to educate the honesty of university students.The results of this study follow as:(1) The self-made questionnaire has good reliability and fair validity. By using the factor analysis, get two dimensions of "honesty" questionnaire: integrity and "no cheating", there are four dimensions of "keeping faith" questionnaire: trust, "recognition of promise", "keeping one's word", credit.(2) University students pay different attention to different dimensions, the order from more attention to less attention is: credit>integrity>"keeping word">" recognition of promise">"no cheating">trust.(3) The honesty of university students has a distinction on specialty. It is common that the evaluating of students of science is higher than it of students of arts. But only have significant difference in the dimensions: integrity, "keeping word" and credit. These exist cross-action between specialty and grade.(4) There exist the apparent characteristic on development. The direction as a whole is grade l>grade 2>grade 3>grade 4. The students of grade 1 get the highest mark hi all dimensions, and significant higher than other grades. Grade 2 is the time of transition, there exist significant difference at the grade 3, and grade 4 is significant lower than all the other grades except one or two dimensions. It same that the honesty of university students decreasing by grade increase. It exist the cross-action between specialty and grade.(5) There exist a sex characteristic. It shows that the evaluation of male about honesty is lower than female. But there only exist significant difference hi dimensions: integrity and "no cheating".
