Chosen Between Individual Perceptual Lives With Social Groups Orders--Analyze Mengchu Ling's Values Orientation From His Works "ErPai"

"Chu ke Pai An Jing Qi" and " Er ke Pai An Jing Qi" ( " ErPai " ) were written by Mengchu Ling in the Late Ming Dynasty, a history period with special cultural meaning. The novel' s subject matter mostly originated from common custom social life and focus on material activities and two sexual lives. Through narrating the attitudes to the natural desire such as " material desire" , "sexual desire" etc., and describing the impact on traditional ethics and social groups orders during the process in pursuing realization of perceptual life value of the personage in the works, Ling thinks about the relationships between common customs and tradition, as well as between individual life value and social groups orders. In this paper, on the base of understanding of works, we analyzed the author' s value choice between tradition rational principle and individual perceptual lives, to make a more understanding, a further analysis from social economy, ideology and era prevailing custom, etc. were also reported. This paper divides into three parts:First, we discussed the subject matter about the material activities in the works. In that period, for people, desires of obtaining money are strong; the traditional ethics have met strongly challenge when faced the reality of exclusive concern with money and mammonism. Ling selected lots of subject matter with this type to express a desiring, chasing, and hospitable through narrating the material lives which including every aspect and the fresh and interesting generations*. On one hand, he affirms people' s pursuit and desire to the wealth, affirms the rationality of the material desire, as individual life it is blameless to pursue higher quality of material lives. On theother hand, he could not ignore the out of control of the material desire of people, which result in unusually confusion in relationships among persons and the civil orders, not only destroyed thetraditional morals but also destroyed themselves. Thus, he thinks that people should include the natural material desire into the traditional rules of ethic and accepts the behavioral norm of the traditional ethics consciously. This value orientation throughout the " ErPai ", That is to say, people should pursue the material wealth to change individual life quality, but at the same time, must not destroy social groups orders and also avoid any destabilizing factor appear at any time in the process of production and management, in fact, the best way to realize this kind of material pursuing is unexpected wealth.Second, the subject matter about the sexual relations has been investigated. The socialization of the material activities has broken the traditional interpersonal relationships model, promoted the frequent contacts between men and women, which caused the sexual relations to change greatly. Among these changes, expressed in the works, including affirmation of the true feelings, tolerant of forfeit integrity, as well as understanding and propagation of the Carnal desires, even more unconscious satire to the asceticism. All of these prove invariably that affected by customs of that era deeply, Ling has a certain understanding to the reality of the natural desire and life value.
