A good Lonely Hearts ad is inseparable from excellent language. In a random sampling way, this paper has chosen 718 Lonely Hearts ads published in newspapers, magazines and internets all over the country from 1987to 2003. This paper compares and expounds the language of Lonely Hearts ads mainly from its language features(vocabulary feature, syntax feature, rhetoric feature),self forms of address, self statement language types, and main body style feature and so on and points out that vocabulary, syntax arid rhetoric are indispensable to an excellent Lonely Hearts ad.In addition, by analyzing the standards of choosing a spouse, and the self statement of those people who come from different times and districts and have different age, sex and social position, we can get to know the male and female marriage seekers' marriage concepts, marriage attitude and social psychology: pursuing modernization, tending to become traditional, longing for genuine feelings, pursuing to be strange and different, and a few people's game psychology.Through analyzing and inducing the language features of Lonely Hearts ads, analyzing and classifying value choosing direction and social psychology, I hope this paper can provide some help for those people who are seeking a spouse in writing a marvelous but true Lonely Hearts ad, and hope those marriage seekers have a correct and healthy marriage seeking psychology as well. Besides, through observing and studying the Lonely Hearts ads, I think this paper can offer some related research results to socio-linguistics and sociology.
