A Study On The Boxer Leaders In Zhili

Beginning with the analysis of the organization of Zhili Boxer Movement ,the paper discusses the emergence of its leadership. It clarifies the widespread,complicated,loose and multi-element characteristic .Then after indexing the historical documents and survey data ,the paper makes a detailed statistics to the 201 Zhili Boxer leaders with table. On this basis, the paper also makes a concrete analysis of the leaders .starting with the status , regional distributation , age and social contact, so as to reach a new understanding .Landlords, esquires, homeless persons and half- homeless persons were the important components.Most of them were respectable middle-aged persons with certain peculiarity of regional disbributation.Finally,it analyses the relationships between them and the boxers,the local governments and the relationships among themselves.Then it showed us that they played multiple roles in the complex social contact,and apparently embodied era limitations ,which made it a tragical social group.
