The purpose of this thesis is on the reality of the photography. The reality concerns to the social situation and the reliability of the history.Most of the photos are selected from the magazine-<>in 1968. These objects expressed the female appearances.By summering the history of photography, I bring up the question on the reality of photography.I analyzed the photos as one kind of the art works of the political situation in "Cultural Revolution". In the period, the photography related closely with the art mechanism and the rules to the art. In addition, it was affected by the art idea of the former Soviet Unions and the characteristics in the development of Chinese photography.At that time, Chairman Mao advocated a new aesthetic standard of Woman. His wife, Jiang Qing produced eight modal dramas. It brought the women like arming rather than cosmetics. It was called the "iron lady". The unique woman appearance in Chinese history shows the superiority of socialism. They had the function to publicize the policy. What's the reason of the appearances? How were they living in that time? Through collected the historical documents and researched the theories of feminism, I analyzed the reasons.During the "Culture Revolution" period, only the photos published in the pictorial magazine, newspapers could be spread in public. These photos belong to the kind of recording or reporting. Through analyzed the essentials of the images and compared with the photos taken by Marc Riboud in the same period in China, I found that the female images with the vacancy in the daily life had reflected the serious "doctrinarism" in photography at that time. The photos were related with the historical situation and the models in the art works in "Culture Revolution".After that, I deeply analyzed the photography's localization includingthe objectivity, subjectivity and the process of the photo's communication. The "reality" of the photography should be the reality of history. The reality is not absolute but opposite.At last, I drew the conclusion that the photograph can be forged, but they can't overstep the localization of the period. The viewpoint of the photos also reflects the photographer's conception. The photos make effect in the public's angle of view, their standards on value and moral. In a way, these photos are the specimen of "Culture Revolution". They are the part of the history. They witnessed the social situation, politics and art environment. At the same time, they open out the historical reality.
