The Chinese World On The View Of Cross-culture

In the process of China and its culture approaching the world, Lin Yu-tang and Sai Zhen-zhu were two important writers. In the special age, they had begun to introduce China and its culture to the world. In their novels, they described the vivid "world of China". This paper is just to compare their picture of China. At the same time, I would like to analyze the reasons.In the first chapter, I will describe the same and the difference between the two Chinese worlds in the two novels. It includes surrounding of human being, the position of women in family, and those persons' life value. In Lin Yu-tang' s novel, he described an aesthetic and abundant world: the kind and helpful surrounding; the self-satisfactory life of women in family; the leisurely value of life, all of these made them have a happy life in the world. However, Sai Zhen-zhu described a practical and critical "Chinese world" for us: the opposition between human being and the surrounding; the marginal statue of women; the heavy life value, so persons in this "world" had a difficult life. Although there are so many different points, they had a common dream: they hoped there would appear a special character with the advantages of the west and east culture.In the second chapter, I would like to explain the reasons that lead to all of these phenomena in the last chapter. Firstly, they had different ways to understand China and its culture. Sai Zhen-zhu lived with common people when she lived in China. So she got a lot of things about Chinese culture through popular society. Lin Yu-tang went another way: he knew through book. At the same time, these two writers experienced two kinds of culture. This would also influencetheir works. However, there was always a cultural core that controlled the persons' minds. It is also not ignorable. Secondly, Lin and Sai once had a sad experience that the misunderstanding of two different culture, so they hoped the east and west culture could understand and have dialogue. This dream also reflected in their novels. Lastly, these two writers were both humanitarian. However, Lin was inclined to build an ideal world for people who lived difficult life. Sai would like to find the unfortunate in the world with her humanitarian eyes.
