The Tentative Comparative Study Of The Associative Compound Characters In Inscriptions On Bones Or Tortoise Shells And Naxi Dongba Scripts

Both the inscriptions on bone or tortoise shells and the Naxi Dongba Scripts belong to ancient ideography system. Comparing the inscriptions on bone or tortoise shells with the Naxi Dongba Scripts will not only benefit the study of the two writings themselves but also have advantages to explore the general rule of the origin, the constitution and the development of the character. Furthermore this kind comparative study can also enrich and develop the theory of Comparative Written Linguists and General Written Linguists.This paper uses the theory of Comparative Written Linguists and General Written Linguists as the guiding ideology, and selects the associative compound characters in inscriptions on bones or tortoise shells of Shang Dynasty and Naxi Dongba Scripts as the object of study. We conduct tentative comparative study of the associative compound characters in the two writings from different angles such as component system, the problem of the associative compound and pictophonetic characters, the reason of the making characters on the basis of describing the associative compound characters in the two writings deeply and consulting predecessors achievements broadly.This paper includes three chapters. The first chapter is introduction. This part introduces the aim and value of selecting this subject, the material of study, and the guiding theory and method. Meanwhile this chapter also presents the general situation of the two associative compound characters and the comparative study of this two writing, and define the associative compound character. The second chapter is the main part of the paper. This part carries on comparative study of the associative compound characters in the two writings from several respects including component system, combination and structure, the syntactical function, the relation between the character and the language, the problem of the associative compound and pictophonetic characters and the reason of the making characters. In this chapter, we also induce the similarities and differences of two associative compound characters, and analyze the cause to the similarities and differences emphatically. The third chapter is the conclusion and enlightenment. This chapter summarizes some common laws and different characters of the early stage associative compound characters on its origination and development based on generalizing the content of the whole paper.
