The study on the sentence patterns is one of the important components of grammar study. Although the Inscriptions on Bones or Tortoise Shells are the language materials before 3000 years, its sentence patterns are very complex and dazzled, especially the development of the verb sentence patterns related to offer sacrifices to gods or ancestors (short for VSPROSGA) is representative. This thesis applies the basic principle of Transformational-generative Grammar and the theory of Valence Grammar combining statistical method to study the VSPROSGA completely. Hope the thesis offer some references to the study of the sentence patterns of archaic Chinese. The thesis is made up of five chapters. The first chapter surveys forefather's achievement of the study of sentence structure, and introduces the general situation of sacrifice in Shang Dynasty, then explains the aim and related notes of this thesis. The second, and the following two chapters apply the basic principle of Transformational-generative Grammar to analyze the course of the transformation and derivation of the VSPROSGA respectively, describe their classifications in detail, and make every effort to set up a layer of systems of the sentence patterns in the Inscriptions on Bones or Tortoise Shells. The fifth chapter includes four parts: Section one quantitatively focuses on the VSPROSGA; Section two explores the VSPROSGA by stages; Section three applies the theory of Valence Grammar to probe into the semantic sentence structure of VSPROSGA tentatively; Section four probes into several VSPROSGA from different angles.
