The self-concept is an important composition of personality structure, in recent years, a multidimensional and hierarchical self-concept model put forward to expand the new way of the self-concept research. In various dimensions of the self-concept, the physical self-concept is a very important part of them and it's an important foundation part of the self-concept and the early stage of the self-awareness, it means the perception and evaluation to individual body. The physical self-concept involves the various viewpoint and evaluation in looks, physical stature, physique...etc. The physical self-concept is the result of the social perception and influenced by the culture environment. On the basis of the multidimensional and multihierarchical self-concept model, many researchers abroad put forward a multidimensional, and hierarchical physical self-concept model. Applied this model, the abroad has opened some research of the physical self-concept. The research shows the teenager that the development of the physical self-concept will promote the development of the self concept. University student is being placed in the key of the self integration period, therefore, study the physical self-concept characteristics that our country university living is very necessary, rising beneficial to open out the physical self-concept characteristics of them, discussing the influence of physical self-concept to the self development of them.Firstly, this paper mainly uses the PSDQ( the Physical Self- Description Questionnaire),then applies the TSCS (Tennessee Self-concept Scale) and self-worth questionnaire, with an aim to find out the physical self characteristic of university student, encourage them to participate the physical activity more often, increase the level of the physical self-concept, further to promote the whole self-concept of the university student. This text constitutes from five parts:The first part is for studying the overview, looked back the beginning of the physical self-concept research, methods, instruments, main viewpoint and theory;The second part put forward the research purpose, meaning, research methodand instrument.The third part is the result of the research.The fourth is the further discussion.The fifth part draws out the conclusion of this study:1. The study expresses that PSDQ has better construct validation, theoretic validation and internal consistency, passing by further edit, that scale can become an effective and dependable research instrument about Chinese physical self-concept.2. As a whole, the physical self-concept of university student has no sex difference and not change with the grade and age occurrence, but there is a distinct influence of the physical self-concept between the athletics and non athletics major university student.3. Totally ,physical self-concept effects self-concept and especially, the effect of physical self-esteem is notable.The last part is the summarization.
