After reviewing the history of translation instruction in China, the thesis indicates its important status but unsatisfactory current situation. The basic problem lies in the dated instruction model and class organization method which result in not professional but scholastic translation. Thus, the author puts forward the idea of integration of real-situation criteria within the translator training programme and presents a corresponding framework which consists of establishing interdisciplinary theoretical foundations, using professional translation process, and adopting revisers' strategies of quality assessment. Students in the traditional teacher-oriented class are passive receptors whose task, is to approach the ideal translation as much as possible. The paper suggests that teachers should be students' partners in the learning process and help them acquire a professional translator self-concept.Inspired by the task-based language teaching approach in which the teaching process is a simulation of real-situation experiences, the author designs a task-based translator training program through which students, with the help of modern information technology, can internalize the steps of doing professional translation and grasp the skills needed for the future web-translation market.
