Han Yu was an outstanding proser in Tang dynasty. Having succeeded in leading the movement of opposing rhythmical prose and advocating the prose written in the classical literary style, he opened a new chapter in the development of the prose.Han Yu maintained that one should learn the doctrines of Confucius and Mencius first before he learned to write the prose. He did so in order to restore the broken doctrines of the Confucianisls and defend the unity of the country. At the same time, he assimilated a lot of thoughts from other groups. Besides the doctrines of Confucius and Mencius, he advanced where there was injustice, there would be an outcry. In his literary creation, he paid much attention to the training of his morality and knowledge. As a result, he produced a lot of powerful and bold proses.Han Yu contributed a lot to the development of the prose, which was also his own reflection of his age.
