| The literature of "Wen Ze" is an ancient Chinese rhetoric book by Chen Kui in South Song Dynasty, which results from Chen Kui's intensive research about such literatures as "Liu Jing" and focuses on generalization and conclusion of the principle in ancient China," Wen Ze " lays the foundation of researches on Chinese rhetoric due to its comprehensive, detailed and profound expatiation on the subject. The paper discusses several significant theories by "Wen Ze" in the field of rhetoric such as its principals, methods, the contact of syntax & trope , paradigms styles etc. Additionally, the paper focuses on the analysis of the approach of comparison which is used by Chen kui as a powerful tool in the research of rhetoric. The ancient Chinese theoretical skeleton of rhetoric will be traceable and presented explicitly when we critique the "Wen Ze" from the view of historical development of the theory and dig into its origin. As a result, the impact of the literature to the theoty development will be properly assessed and it is also helpful for grasping the soul and core of the ancient Chinese rhetoric. |
