| This paper is a special study of Pashan Diao--the folk song ofthe Han nationality in the west of Inner Mongolian, It consists of five parts: Part 1 deals with the origin of the Pashan Diao, by means of a large of historical facts improving the relationship between the origin of the Pashan Diao and the immigration in the late period of Qing dynasty. Part 2 deal with the social live of that time and the artistic quality of the kind of song's words. Part 3 has a overall analysis and important elaboration on the characteristics of the artistic form of the Pashan Diao, including the use of the characteristics of the morphology of the music, the temperament of the Pashan Diao, the characteristics of the tone and the rhythm, etc. Part 4 deals with the relationship between the Pashan Diao and all kinds of songs in the district. By respectively analysis the merge of the Pashan Diao with the Manhan Diao ,The opera of an actors and an actress and the Mongolian folk songs. Part 5 is about the spread and inheritance of the Pashan Diao. By stating the Pashan Diao's spread and inheritance in the modern and its limits in the spread and in heritance.The Pashan Diao is a representative folk song of the Han in the west region in Inner Mongolian, Making a close study of it is of greatsignificant either to singing, teaching, the theoretical creation or to the protection, inheritance and development of the Inner Mongolian traditional music. In the course of my study of this music I tried my best in the following three aspects: .1.Making an overall analysis of the literature and materials available; 2.Learning modestly from elder experts and scholars who have made great achievements in this field, and acquainting myself with their achievements; 3.Paying attention to collecting folk songs (field work) and paying visits to folk actors still living. All this is for the purpose of making an overall and objective study of Pashan Diao so as to draw a practical conclusion.
