At the prosperous Tang Dynasty, the poets' poems made great achievements to literal history. Among them, Libai, Wangwei and Dufu were the most outstanding. However, their essays were also the important parts of their literal production. LiBai, Wang Wei, DuFu's essays were characterized by the obvious personal features, which made their essays well-known at the Tang Dynasty and made positive influence to the ancient Chinese prose movement in Mid-Tang Dynasty. This thesis focuses on the essays of LiBai, Wang Wei and DuFu and summarizes the tendency of the poets' composition, based on the background and the feature of their essays. Furtherly, it will discuss the contribution the poets' essays made on the ancient Chinese prose movement. It consists of three chapters.The first chapter is divided into three sections, to discuss the background of the poets' essays at the prosperous Tang Dynasty ,namely ,the tendency of the character of the Tang dynasty 's essays. Only when we find the features of the essays of the times, can we analyze the character which belongs to the special poets' essays. The first and second sections respectively discuss the new changes of pianwen and the development of prose. At the prosperous Tang Dynasty ZhangYue and SuTing's pianwen made breakthrough to the old pianwen .The essays at that times stressed the art. The language was simple and full of imagination. And the sentence was similar to prose. The prose which LiHua , Xiao Yingshi and YuanJie were good at was typical for its critical spirit, and tried to create a new kind of prose. The third section summer up the direction of the prosperous Tang Dynasty .On one hand ,the article was directed by Confucianism,thus making the article more rich and nearer to the reality .On the other hand ,the article was closely similar to the prose.The second chapter had three sections, discussing the feature of LiBai, WangWei and DuFu' essays and summer up the tendency of their essays. The first sectiondiscusses the art feature of LiBai's essays. His essays were well-known for passion and high spirit. The second section discusses the art feature of WangWei's essays. His essays were famous for the art that made a peaceful and deep spiritual land ,full of beautiful scenery .The third section discusses the art of DuFu's essays. Apparently his essays were influenced by his poems. The language was stiff, the construction was full of jumps and downs. But the content paid much attention to reality and life, showing the poet's concern to the country and the people. The fourth section, based on the discussion of the above three sections, summered up the tendency of the poets' composition at the prosperous Tang Dynasty. Briefly, there was an obvious "I" in the article and had great charm at art. Also there was tendency of going to prose at the style of language.The third chapter had two sections, discussing the meaning and influence the articles of poets made to the literature history, based on the research of the breakthrough that the poets' essays made to the article style, and effects the poets' essays made to the ancient Chinese prose movement at mid- Tang Dynasty.
