| Human Development Theory is the central piece of Marxism on which Marx had dwelt both systematically and intensely. It has also been successively explicated by the leading groups of CCP(China Communist Party)under the circumstances of socialism. In particular, the third leading group revolving around Jiang Zemin has, according to new historical conditions, dwelt on it systematically and intensely. These explications not only threw light on the theory and restore importance to it, but also established the new humanistic social development strategy for the modernization of our country and made it possible for the theory to further stick out and progress in modern China.In recently years, with the development of socialistic practice, the problem of human development is gaining more attention. People's lusts for interests, extravagance and power are so badly inflated that there have arised some ugly phenomena such as moral decline, loss of humanity, equalization of cash value and life value, weighing human merits in one's estate and wealth, all of which turned interpersonal relationship into that of cash. What is more, somebody even commercializes conscience, personality, power and pursues nothing but money, no morality in the least. All these indicate the missing of human development in modern age. Therefore, in a world highly advanced in economy, science and technology, it has become a key problem to overcome the one-sidedness of social development and propel the human overall development. As a kind of social existence, we socialism not only the same problem, but consequently regard it as an important theme in our socialistic practice today because the establishment of socialism has paved the way for it.This thesis, laying emphasis on human development theory of Marxism and based on reality, aims to analyse the status of human development in the overall construction of well-off society through investigating the relation between human development and socialistic market-oriented economy.It is divided into three parts:Part one traces back to the origin of human development theory and combs this problem of both antiquity and modernism on which quite a lot of thinkers before have debated and drawn some elite conclusions. It was, however, not properly solved because of the bias in history and class until Marx put forward his "three stages" theory, i.e. "Dependence on human " on pre-capitalistic society, "Dependence on material" in capitalistic society and "Free and overall development" in communistic society. Drawing on historical materialism and the theory of surplus value, he deeply probed capitalism, researched and criticized plutonomy and unveiled the objective criterion in the development of history and human. After Marx, Lenin and Mao Zedong evolved human development theory according to the basic principles of Marxist human development theory and concrete practice of revolution and construction in respective country. Headed for the primary interests of people and using forerunners' theory, Deng Xiaoping and Jiang Zemin explicated and evolved it more overall ever since the reform and opening-up. Moreover, chairman Hu Jintao, in the 3rd meeting of CCP 16th session, put forward the humanic principle and enriched human development with new meaning.Part two mainly expounds the relation between human development and socialistic market-oriented economy. The establishment which has brought about great changes in each area such as people's living style, spirit state and view of value and enabled human development to take brand new look under the circumstances of socialistic market-oriented economy. Therefore, to discuss the relation between human development and socialistic market-oriented economy will be of vital importance for the enrichment of human development theory.
