A Study On The Influence Of Technology To The Mobile Phone Form

This thesis derives from data retrieval in an earlier design stage finished by a cell-phone department of a Taiwan-owned enterprise. Comparing with Occident, cell-phone industry of our country enters directly the cell-phone 4-5th technology ripe product of development to appear as goods. The thesis regards the technology of the cell-phone as a clue and describes a development history of cell-phones' figuration from the first generation, as a result, industry designers could benefit from this thesis and realize the development process of shaping of cell-phones. A main purpose of the thesis is to study meaning of the historical development of cell-phone style, in other words, the thesis helps the industry designer to look for cell-phones' shaping of overall importance things and to think a regular changing course.The collection of the research materials in the thesis is from the issued cell-phone design patents of American State Intellectual Property Bureau (www.uspto.gov) and published cell-phone design patents of State Intellectual Property Office of P. R. China (www.sipo.gov.cn) from 1970 to April 23, 2003. Using comparative research approach and annotating from dissemination with electron technology, the thesis studies the cell-phones' shaping and relationship of technology. The thesis quotes a large number of picture materials and analyses the cell-phone shaping styles of each periods according to the pictures, the industry designer could draw following conclusions: during earlier development stage, the phased development of cell-phone technology phased influences the shaping style of the cell-phone and each technology renovation creates an opportunity of cell-phones' figuration changing; during relatively stable stage, artificial factors act as the key factor that influences the shaping style of the cell- phone. The industry designer could also find that cell-phones' figuration is remarkably influenced by the development process from earlier military commerce usage to popularize popular course. In another aspect, the shaping of the cell-phones is utilized by the trade company too, as the shaping explaining the external selling point of cell- phone technology.As the saying is, history is one mirror.
