Redesign For The Appearance Of Costume Materials

Redesign for the appearance of costume materials refers to the costume-creating process in which the designer, in order to fully express his/her emotion and based on his/her mental outline and fashion needs, creatively redesigns the applied material and sculptures outside appearance with strong characteristic property. The thesis, contraposing the exertion deficiency for costume material existing in costume designing in China nowadays, brings forward the idea of redesigning for the appearance of costume materials from the design aspect, which may permeate modern art into costume design, and may give a further space for the development of costume art.In order to demonstrate this point of view, the author first looks back on the historical development of costume material, then analyzes the major factors influencing the appearance of material, explores the possibility of redesign for costume material on the basis of practice and sums up some effective approaches. At the end of the thesis, the author gives large amount of classical examples to illustrate that the subtle application of redesign for the appearance of costume in costume design could fully express the costume's vivid and characteristic property, which may enable costume to send out unique artistic charm. Thus comes the natural conclusion and in the end, the author gives her future prospect to the development of redesign for appearance of costume materials.
