Virginia Woolf is an representative writer of stream of consciousness of English literature, who mainly contributes in the writing of novels and literature criticism. She further explores the relation of women and literature, and puts forward her distinctive idea about feminism, embodying in her works to which the later feminists attach the importance .She wins high recognition in literature history of England.This paper expounds Virginia Woolf s distinctive feminist idea and how it comes into being with her famous works like To the Lighthouse, Orlando, The waves ect, opposing to Elaine Showalter and Julia Kristeva's idea of Woolf s misreading. This paper puts forward the idea of mixing the consciousness of both male and female through the contents and forms of Woolf s works, and raises three aspects of the characteristics of her novels so as to point out thai the images written by Woolf are independent, not created in accordance of the standard of men's value. It also poses the argument of androgyny on the premise of both the equality and differences of male and female ,and proceeds to the next step to raise the theory of poetic novel.In conclusion, the dissertation affirms the feminist idea and influence of Viginia Woolf who is worthy of the honor as a forerunner of feminism literature.
