Implicit learning of the second-language(L2) is not only the new trend in the field of second language acquisition , but also the advanced topic in the field of applied implicit learning. At present time, there are certain experimental conclusions set for implicit learning of L2 on adults, but there are few experimental studies of that on children, especially much less in China. In order to explore the rules of implicit and explicit learning of L2 on children and enrich the experimental products in this field, our study presented English phonetic rules implicitly and explicitly and test the best teaching mode by the laboratory experiment design. We wish to offer theoretical guidance and experimental evidence for L2 teaching. There were two experiments in our study. Experiment 1 manipulated combination of visual and auditory modalities and implicit and explicit learning mode. Experimental 2 controlled different order combination of implicit and explicit learning at study and learning phrase. The results showed:1.Modality effect played an important role in the study of English phonetic rules for children. The performance on visual modality was much better than that on auditory modality.2.The mode effect of implicit and explicit learning was not significant, and the effect of different order combinations of implicit and explicit learning was not significant either in the word test and well-formednesstest.3.The mode effect of implicit and explicit learning was significant , and the effect of different order combinations of implicit and explicit learning was also significant in the rule test. The modes of implicit and explicit learning combined with implicit practice were the best, the mode of explicit learning combined with implicit practice was the second to the former, and implicit learning combined with implicit practice was the worst.
