A Research To Rong Yu

Rong Yu is a poet with a little reputation in the mid-Tang Dynasty,however ,his life story and experience seldom exist in the historical records.Till Yuan Dynasty ,Xin Wenfang's Biography of poets in Tang Dynasty records detailed information,but with much misrepresentation even till now.The academic circles pay rather limited attention to Rong Yu ,and articles about him are rather found.In fact,compared with contemperary poets,Rong Yu's poems are not inferior to theirs.His poems still remain the heritage of Du Fu and the spirit of Tang Dynasty poets,which is indeed precious.This paper including two parts.The first part is textual criticism contents. On the basis of extant historical materials,poems written by Rong Yu and his contemperary poets, this part studies several questions about Rong Yu's birth place,the year of his birth and death,the experience in the local government and making friends. Through research above,corrects certain mistaken statement and draws some new conclusions.In the portion of birth place textual research,proves Rong Yu's birth place is not Jing Nan,but sould be Fu Feng which is near to Chang An.In the second portion ,differentiates and analyzes the year of his birth and death,resulting in some own viewpoints.In the portion of local government experience ,examines and corrects some confused statements ,so that this important period of Rong Yu's lifetime seems more factual and distinct.Furthermore ,in the portion of making friends textual research,lists ten poets and officials in relation toRong Yu,according to the time sequence.The second part is poem discussion contents.the art standard of his poems are not so high as contemperary poets',however,his poems reflect strong sence of reality and criticism,and this spiritual value and social significance can't be ignored.To some extent,it reveals the social reality in mid-Tang Dynasty and ambition of lower strata scholars.This part analyzes Rong Yu's poem creation from five aspects: concerning both historical and realistic fact;compassionating the folk and soldiers;criticizing the current events;benefiting the society chivalrously;sighing the human life.
