The change and development of any art are all carried on under certain social historical condition. "The mode of production of the material life, restricts process of the whole social life, the political life and the cultural life. "Artists are the carrier for the change and development of art,therefore, the painting of one period reflects the spirit of that times, the change of the times must call the development thereupon constantly of art,too.As a great school of Chinese paintings, Chinese scholar draws develop into the middle and late periods of the 19th century, then it couldn't be complacent and conservative either, because of the enormous changes of Chinese society .Thus ,the Chinese scholar draws have be given a new content by era.Just in that period when society experienced great changes and art was prosperous, a dazzling star Chang Shuo Wu emerged in the development of the modern fine arts .He destroyed the dispirited atmosphere of the orthodox schools of painting completely, and opened the impressive new realm of art of the 20th century, makeing Chinese art enter a new era.Although his paintings were listed into the category of Chinese scholar draws by theory community ,however, at this moment ,this " scholar draws "were not that that times" draw scholar".This article focus on comparing Chang Shuo Wu 's painting of a certain historical period with traditional "scholar draws ",by which to find out the point appearing in both ChangShuo Wu 'paintings and the traditional scholar draws and also to find out Wu's creative point .that's the similarities and differences which the traditional scholar draw are clicked.People can have a clear view on the feature of the different phases of the fine arts development.
