This thesis will give several examples of the great plague in the ancient Europe to analyze the plague'impact on the development of ancient Europe society. I hope that the reader can think deeply again the role of plague in the development of society through reading the thesis. The thesis consists of the introduction, the text and the conclusion. The introduction introduces the purpose and the significance of the topic. At the same time, I will points out the sources that the thesis relies on. The main body of this thesis consists of three parts. The first part expounds the situation of the Athens plague, five plagues of ancient Rome, the Justinian plague. The second part sums up the reason of plague, through which we can draw the conclusion that the livestock, the city, the war, the trade, the environment and so on are the main reasons. The third part analyzes the plague'impact on the ancient Europe such as politics, population, war, psychology, medicine, commonality sanitation etc according to the last two parts. The last part of the thesis is a conclusion. Through investigating the reason and impact of these great plagues, we can draw the conclusion that the plague is the result of nature and society environment. It is brought by the action of human. At the same time, the plague have a huge and far-reaching impact on the development of the human society.
