This article falls into five chapters. The first chapter sums up England's achievements of politic stabilization and economic expansion, pointing out that these achievements provide very good social conditions for the flourishing development of drama. The second chapter discusses the politic-economic background and the reason of the queen's support for the development of drama, pointing out that Elizabeth I plays a core role in protecting drama from politic persecution.Chapter three discusses the crisis of peerages and their adaptation to the crisis, pointing out it is their adaptation to new situation that puts themselves into the politic support for drama, and makes them contribute to the flourishing development of drama.Chapter four analyzes the middle-class's rise in economic, politic, educational fields and its great abilities to develop its own recreational culture-drama, pointing out that the middle-class's support and attend is the essential motivity for the flourishing development of drama.Chapter five summarizes the reasons of the flourishing development of drama in the period of Elizabeth I : it is the result of the three main social powers'(the queen, peerages and the middle-class) conjunct contribution, because these three powers have their own demand and benefit differently under the given historical conditions, their demand and benefit makes them have to do so; it's also the result of drama's successfully syncretizing the cultural tastes of the queen, peerages and the middle-class; what's more, England's school education in the age of Renaissance also reveals its value in the boom of drama. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | the Period of Elizabeth I, the Queen, Peerages, the Middle-class, Drama | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
