Vde/buC is taken as the emphasis and difficult point in teaching Chinese as a foreign language all through the ages. There are varied views on this structure, which are likely to result in negative influence on our teaching Chinese as a foreign language. Therefore the author conducted a comprehensive study on Vde/buC based on an electronic corpus. This corpus is composed of writing materials from two newspapers-----Beijing Evening and Beijing Daily. It numbers more than 50,000,000 characters and all the Vde/buC structure sentences are retrieved with the help of computer. This paper studied the Vde/buC structure from three levels---syntax level, semantic level and pragmatic level and employed visual angle of two "triangle" to revalue it. On the syntax level, the author explored the part of characteristics of "V" and "C", the influence of verb's value on "VC" 's entering Vde/buC structure, and the arrangement classification of Vde/buC structure. On the semantic level, the author distinguished Vde/buC structure and the auxiliary word structure like "neng" based on "Intended category and Involuntary category", and pointed out that "Will but Can Not" is not the basic meaning of Vde/buC structure. There are some other meanings derived from different contexts. The enterance of "V" and "C" into Vde/buC structure was featured by semantic mutuality. On the pragmatic level, I studied the Vde/buC structure and gave an objective description on contexts. Having conducted a thorough exploration on Vde/buC structure, I made a practical study based on 5 sets of textbooks of teaching Chinese as a foreign language which are still popular now, picked out some problems in them and presented suggestions on textbook compilation and classroom teaching.
