The writing of "eros" in Shen cong-wen(1902-1988)'s novels have evoked a discussion in literary criticism circles since the 1930s. From then on, the problem of "eros" has been one of the key problems in the study of Sheng cong-wen's novels. This article is based on the achievements now available in the circles of his novels' study, explains the "er o s" formation, vitality formation and national subjectivity formation from two sides by analyzing the novels of him in depth。Begin with the side on "the distortion of er o s and the degeneration of nation", the author analyses the formation of distorted city lives carefully, and proves that Shen cong-wen carried on and self-questioned the spirit of the enlightenment in "The May Fourth" time. Take the side on "the superhuman nature of eros and the rising of nation" of departure, the author analyses the formation of the superhuman nature in his novels, and proves that he tried to form "another enlightenment" in his culture and human nature inquiry. Then proceed to the next step, he opened a road of modernity from the rescuing "eros". This article strives to put Shen cong-wen's writings and thoughts in the special Chinese modern literature background, to compare the same and the difference between the writers before andafter him, and to discover the contribution and the defective points inhis novels' world.
