Wang Anyi is a writer full of great exploring spirit in contemporary Chinese world of literature. Without being attached to any literary school, she has been standing firmly with a luxuriantly growing pose in the new period with the alternation of various literary trends of thought and the continuous stream of numerous schools of fiction. During her writing career of more than twenty years, she has produced works of fiction with widespread topics and themes, amounting to more than five-million characters, including novels, novelettes and short stories. The birth of almost every work, whether it is perceptual experience of life or rational investigation of spirit, aroused great sensation in the whole world of literature. In these novels or novelettes, Wang Anyi has been keeping exploring the utmost possible space of fiction as an art of narration, infiltrating her pursuit of life and art; therefore, the trend of creation and mode of narration in her works have undergone several changes, which has established herself as a unique writer in the history of contemporary literature. Based on her works of writing in recent twenty years and research of her works in the circle of commentary, this paper, from the perspective of the narrative style, mode of narrating stories, discriminating narration and unique tone of narrative language in her fiction, combs the transmutation of her narrative modes, and probes into the causes for these changes.
