Usually Li Bihua is entitled "love novelist". As a matter of fact, she doesn't limit herself to the description of love. Many fields are covered in her novels, such as philosophy, aesthetics, history and so on, besides love. This thesis takes river novel written by Li Bihua and its filmizing as object, uses esthetics theory to discuss tragic spirit, artistic conception of tragedy and points out some problems on tragedy epilogue. And the social background of Hong Kong is taken into consideration.This thesis consists of six parts. First part is introduction. The first, second, third and fourth chapter constitute the main parts. And the rest is conclusion. The key content in each chapter is as follows:The introduction tries to discriminate tragedy on esthetics theory from some similar conceptions such as disaster, pessimism and tragedy as a drama.The first chapter analyzes the spirit of tragedy. And this part is composed of two sections, destiny tragedy and tragedy resulting of different reasons.The second chapter analyzes artistic conception of tragedy. Supernatural atmosphere, dusk imago and colours world are three ways to construct artistic conception of tragedy in Li Bihua's river novels. Thispart tries to study how these ways strenthen and deepen the tragic theme.The third chapter discusses tragedy epilogues and point out three trends, which can affect the tragic spirit. One is falling into reality. Two is going into nihilism. Another is regressing into nature. The study tries to show how these three trends work.The fourth chapter tries to discuss the extension of tragic spirit in movies filmized from Li Bihua's river novels. And the whole work is based on a great deal of movies.The conclusion part summarizes the former content and comments on some bias towards Li Bihua's works. Actually, Li Bihua has succeeded in pursueing an unique way to realize her literature dream. Off course there are some limitations in her works. For example, she should pay more attention on people's personality and mind. In a word , she still has a long way to go. And we expect wonders.
